City calls for comments on proposed Camps Bay Drive intersection upgrade

The City of Cape Town proposes to undertake the intersection upgrade of the Camps Bay and Dal Road T-junction, to improve traffic flow and road safety. This consists of the implementation of a dedicated southbound right turning lane, along Camps Bay Drive. The City is calling on residents and all road users to submit their comments or recommendations on this proposal between 5 September and 6 October 2025. Read more below:
‘The upgrade of this intersection aims to accommodate all modes of transport during peak periods where commuters experience congested conditions. We believe that apart from improving the traffic flow at this point, it is important to consider the road safety at the current T-junction, along this important link between Camps Bay and the CBD. The project will entail the remarking of one of the current dual city-bound lanes along Camps Bay Drive, into a dedicated southbound right-turning lane, allowing vehicles to safely enter and exit Dal Road,’ said the City’s Mayoral Committee Member for Urban Mobility, Councillor Rob Quintas.
All interested parties are invited to an information day session to discuss this proposal. Details are as follows:

The City’s Public Participation Unit will assist people who cannot read or write, people living with disabilities and people from disadvantaged groups who are unable to submit written comments to have their objections recorded and submitted to the City.
